Latest homes for New Lubbesthorpe

The latest application for housing development at the award-winning New Lubbesthorpe community has been approved.
The proposal forms one of the residential parcels expected as part of phase two of the scheme. The huge site is being developed in four phases and will eventually feature 4,250 homes.
Outline plans were approved in 2014, work began in 2016 and the first residents moved in during 2017. As of February this year some 1,185 homes were occupied.
The latest housing extends from the 74-home development, granted planning permission in November 2020.
It is also bordered by open space to the north and east with a large drainage pond and an established wooded area to the south.
The section will deliver 57 homes with a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as two-bedroom bungalows. There will be a mix of open market and affordable homes.
All of the new builds are shown to feature solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. There will be street tree planting and landscaping including planted front gardens.
Hedgehog highways are proposed as well as swift nesting boxes to help support local wildlife and biodiversity.
Jonathan Hodge, Planning and Strategic Growth Manager at Blaby District Council, said: "We are excited our pioneering community at New Lubbesthorpe continues to progress with these new homes plus another phase of construction in the pipeline. As the Brook Centre retail hub and GP surgery progress we are delighted the development is really coming together as a village settlement."
