Exciting opportunities at our June Job Fair
Employment vacancies, career advice and volunteering options will all be showcased at our next Blaby District Council Job Fair.
The event takes place on Wednesday 5 June from 3pm to 5.30pm at the Council offices on Desford Road, Narborough.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for a new challenge, job advice or training information. Attendees can connect with employers and organisations who have vacancies available or can offer career guidance.
The Royal Air Force, Leicestershire Police, Dealer Auctions and Noble Foods will be at the fair for the first time, along with many other local employers needing new recruits.
This latest event coincides with National Volunteering Week (Monday 2 to Sunday 9 June) and as well as employment information there will be many local volunteering opportunities on offer.
Representatives from groups such as Voluntary Action Leicestershire and the Leicestershire Home Library Lending Service will be on hand to talk about their work and how people can get involved.
The Human Resources Team from Blaby District Council will be available to chat about the authority’s current vacancies as well as signpost to other organisations.
Among the roles available are Team Leaders within our Licensing and Environmental Health departments.
Marc Greenwood, Blaby District Council Executive Director Place, said: "Ensuring our residents have the best access to employment and training is one of our top priorities and our Job Fairs are just one way we can put this into practice.
"This time a key theme is volunteering and there will be valuable advice available for anyone who has the time and the desire to commit to helping within our communities.
"So, whether you are keen to find a new position, want to improve your skills and employability or learn about volunteering options, then our Job Fair is the event for you."
Thomas Wilson at GoLearn! (Leicestershire Adult Learning Service) is a long-standing exhibitor at the Council job fairs. He said: "We always enjoy coming to the Blaby District events. We’ve been able to support lots of people into further education and employment.
"We’ve also assisted a range of people with various needs from those who want help with a CV or writing an application, to those needing to spruce up their English and Maths, improve their digital skills or who want support with their mental health and wellbeing.
"These events are a great way for people to meet different businesses and organisations and the staff on hand are always so helpful in guiding jobseekers to the people who can support them."
Among the local businesses seeking to hire on the day is G Palmer and Son (Nurserymen) Limited. The company have successfully recruited at previous job fairs and are keen to take on new faces as there are full and part-time positions available in their cafes.
