Enderby Logistics Hub approved

Plan Of Enderby Logistics Hub

Outline planning permission has been granted for a new logistics and industrial park at St Johns, Enderby.

Blaby District Council planning committee members approved an application for the Enderby Logistics Hub at a meeting on 13 June.

The application was submitted by landowner the Drummond Estate following the refusal of a similar outline application in October last year. This refusal is in the process of being appealed with a hearing date scheduled for Tuesday 9 July.

The approved plans feature four storage and distribution warehouses, three general industrial warehouses – replacing a potential training centre in the previous scheme -offices and gatehouses. Access will be off Leicester Lane.

The site, which amounts to 33 hectares, was assessed and earmarked for employment use within the current Local Plan, adopted in 2019.

During the meeting councillors discussed the application’s impact on highways, concerns about noise and the need for warehousing.

Further, more detailed applications will follow to determine the size, scale, layout and landscaping elements of the development.

Jonathan Hodge - Group Manager of Planning and Strategic Growth at Blaby District Council, said: “While committee members acknowledged the strength of feeling from some in the community, they ultimately agreed with officers that, as part of our adopted Local Plan, the scheme should be approved.

“We will continue to work with the applicant to ensure the community is consulted on more detailed plans for the site.”

The application can be viewed on Search for Applications using reference 23/1066/OUT.
