Grass Cutting

We are only responsible for cutting grass on land that we own within the district.

What the Council will cut

We will cut the grass on all District Council-owned land:

  • Public open spaces
  • Parks
  • Memorial gardens
  • Amenity areas

What the Council will not cut

We do not cut the grass that is:

  • Privately owned
  • On properties/estates owned by bodies other than the Council, for example Housing Associations
  • Highway verges (Leicestershire County Council is responsible for these)

How often do we cut the grass?

The Council cuts the grass it owns on average 14 times throughout the summer months of the year. This may vary depending on the location and use of the site.

Please visit the County Council website for information on the cutting of highway verges.
