First Contact Scheme
The first Contact aims to improve access to services for vulnerable people in the District of Blaby.
The scheme is a single gateway to a range of services designed to help people remain safe and independent in their own homes. It is available to any vulnerable person over the age of 18 living in the district.
A First Contact form can be filled out by any agency that comes into contact with the public including our Housing Team, Leicestershire Police and the Community Action Partnership. The form has 22 simple questions which help the Visiting Officer establish if any of the participating Agencies can provide additional help to the Customer.
The forms are then processed by the Community Services Team at Blaby District Council and referrals are passed on to the relevant agencies.
Some of the services available include:
- Home fire safety checks and smoke alarms from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service
- Benefits advice from our Benefits Team
- The Befrienders Scheme from Community Action Partnership
Applying
- If you are interested in the scheme various agencies can refer you in addition to Blaby District Council, including Leicestershire Police, Community Action Partnership, Trading Standards and Age Concern
- You can also contact the Community Services Team by filling in the form at the bottom of the page
There is no charge for the referral and the majority of services are also free. If there is likely to be a charge you will be made aware of it and given a free quotation. A referral will not commit you to buy anything.
