Building Blaby Futures

Launched in June 2018, ‘Building Blaby Futures’ is an innovative project to build a pipeline of skilled construction workers for the future.

Blaby District has a significant housing development underway and planned, and the demand will only increase. We know there is a shortage of skilled workers, and this initiative will look to address the problem by growing the construction workforce.

The New Lubbesthorpe Education, Skills and Training Pilot initiated the process, alongside the housebuilders and District Education providers, Blaby District Council sees this initiative as the next step to strengthen this work and allow us to deliver more volume at a faster pace.

This proactive approach has led to similar models working at Everard’s Meadows and the Fosse Park expansion project; with partners pledging to transform the supply of much needed, highly skilled local labour to meet the ever-growing demands of the area’s construction and housing industries.
