The Council is a Disability Confident accredited Employer which demonstrates our commitment to recruiting and retaining disabled people. As a Disability Confident Employer, we commit to:
- Interviewing all applicants with a disability who meet the essential criteria of the job profile and consider them on their abilities.
- Provide an inclusive and accessible recruitment process.
- Provide flexibility when assessing people so disabled applicants have the best opportunity to demonstrate that they can do the job.
- Make reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process and during employment.
Care Leavers
A care leaver is someone who has been looked after by Leicestershire County Council as a child and is under the age of 25.
We recognise that leaving care can involve a lot of changes and finding suitable employment can be challenging. As part of our promise to children in care and care leavers and to overcome these challenges, we commit to:
- Offering support, advice and guidance on our recruitment process including support with completing job application forms.
- Ensuring care leavers registered with us are notified of all job opportunities within the council.
- Guaranteeing job interviews for care leavers if they meet the essential criteria of the job profile.
- Offering work experience placements and apprenticeships within the council.
For more information, please visit the Leicestershire Care Leavers website, see the external links section below.
Armed Forces Covenant
The guaranteed interview scheme supports the pledges in the Armed Forces Community Covenant. Our commitment is to guarantee an interview for any Reservist, Veteran, Cadet Force Adult Volunteer or current serving personnel spouses or civil partner that meet the essential criteria set out in the job profile for roles that are advertised.
Eligibility
- Applicants meet the essential criteria set out in the job profile, and
- if a Veteran, the armed forces were their last long term substantive employer and no more than three years have elapsed since they left the armed forces.
- the applicant is a member of the reserve forces (Reservist or Cadet Force Adult Volunteer) and are within 12 weeks of their discharge date.
- the applicant is the spouse or civil partner of current serving personnel within the armed forces.
Applicants will be asked to bring with them their Military Services Records pack to confirm their service record or bring proof of their Armed Forces discharge date, if they are invited to an interview.
Please note, the scheme does not guarantee a job for an applicant who meets the essential criteria. The recruitment and selection procedures will ensure the most suitable candidate for the job is appointed. This will be based on the selection criteria of the job profile.
Where a candidate has falsely claimed to be a Reservist, Veteran, Cadet Force Adult Volunteer or spouse/civil partner of current serving personnel, an offer of employment may be withdrawn.
