Blaby District Council has been recognised for its work with partners and the local community at the 2017 Leicestershire Cares Awards Evening. 

The Council were presented with The Kelvin Irons Memorial Award for Outstanding Partnership hosted in Blaby District Council’s Council Chamber in Narborough. Leicestershire Cares provides volunteering opportunities for companies looking to get involved with communities in Leicestershire & Rutland.

Through the long-standing partnership working, Blaby District Council has supplied volunteers to including career days and mock interviews at the three academies in the local area.

The Council has also benefited from volunteers at Fosse Meadows and A Place to Grow from a number of county-based businesses, including Alltruck, Joules, Samworth Brothers and the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, who have made a positive long-term impact on the open space.

Mark Foote, Strategic Manager for People, Performance and Assets, said: “We are so proud and delighted to receive this award. This partnership has not only given us the chance to enhance our open spaces, but given our colleagues a unique opportunity to give local students an important life experience.

“We’re hugely grateful to Leicestershire Cares and local businesses for the support given through the volunteering projects we have been able to offer, and we hope to benefit for a long time to come.”
