Stoney Stanton, and Sapcote play host to Dementia Friends information sessions. Dementia Friends is an awareness campaign to give people an understanding of dementia and to ask them to turn that understanding into action which can help improve the lives of people with the condition.
•16 May - Session at Stoney Stanton Village Hall from 7pm to 7.45pm.
•19 May - Session at Sapcote Pavillion from 9.30am to 10.30am
Dave Bassett, Services Manager for Alzheimer’s Society in Leicestershire said: “We’re calling on people in Leicestershire to show their support at one of our events this Dementia Awareness Week.
“People with dementia often feel – and are – misunderstood, marginalised and isolated but with the right support and understanding they can continue to live fulfilling lives and make a contribution to their communities. So, unite with us now and join us during Dementia Awareness Week.”
There are many other events taking place at the city hospitals and Highcross Centre during the week. To find a local event visit www.alzheimers.org.uk/DAW.
