A free family fun day for dog owners is taking place in Narborough on Thursday 23 August.
Run by Blaby District Council, the event is an opportunity for dog owners to turn up and get a free collar and/or tag to ensure they comply with the law. Owners will also be able to get their pooch chipped or make sure the chip’s details are up to date.
The family event on Narborough Park runs from 10am-2pm and welcomes all ages. The Dogs Trust Education Officers will be on hand to help young people learn about dogs with lots of fun activities.
Leicester Animal Aid will showcase their Community Pet Support Scheme (CPSS), which supports vulnerable owners to care for their pets in their own homes for as long as it is mutually beneficial. This free scheme is also available in Oadby & Wigston and Hinckley & Bosworth.
All dogs in out in a public space must wear a collar bearing the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Dogs must also have an up to date chip.
Donations for collars, tags or chips will go towards the Chairman’s chosen charity Pink Pants, which raises awareness of the BRCA gene that can cause breast cancer.
Visitors are advised to use LE19 2EP for their navigation systems to get to the event.
