The first Annual Summit hosted by the Blaby District Local Sports Alliance (LSA) has taken place with the goal of better understanding local clubs and organisations in the community.
Groups were given the opportunity to see the support currently available through the alliance and externally, with funding sources, including the recently launched Blaby Lottery, and governance advice. The community sport and physical activity services, which help to give people of all ages and abilities in the district a chance to take part in sport across the district, were also discussed.
Braunstone Swimming Club and Leicester Ancient Order of Forresters Archery Club were the lucky winners in a draw for £100 to support the small projects they’re delivering for their club and the local community.
Councillor Iain Hewson, Chairman of the Blaby District LSA, said: “This was a fantastic first summit for everyone connected with the Local Sports Alliance. It’s really important for us to engage with the clubs and organisations in the district as they are a huge reason we have so many residents participating in sport.
“We were pleased to get positive feedback from the groups in attendance, and we hope they can use the advice and information on offer to continue their great work and achievements both locally and in their sports.”
The Local Sports Alliance aims to build relationships with local clubs and organisations to shape their service. For more information on how to get involved visit www.sportblaby.org.uk or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
